Polly will be visiting The Learning Tree Preschool in Arundel to have lots of fun telling stories to the children. There are chances to decorate stars, spot a Huey jumper and find objects 'Stuck' in one of the playground trees!
Polly will be visiting Heene CE Primary School in Worthing and spending the day reading stories to each class from Early Years to Year 6.
Polly will be meeting the wonderful people at The Aldingbourne Trust in her 'Polly's Picture Stories' group, sharing graphic novels and talking about the characters and what happens in the stories.
Polly will be talking all about National Storytelling Week and the wonders and benefits of stories on BBC Sussex Radio on the Sarah Gorrell show around 12:40 on Monday 3rd February.
Arundel Literary Festival Saturday March 8th 2025 11:00 a.m. Reading Matters
Polly will be chairing a panel discussion sharing views on aspects of literacy. Does reading matter? Are books losing out to screen time? How can we inspire the next generation of readers?
Panelists include writer Simon Brett, Joy Warren-Adamson and local independent bookshop owner, James Doyle.

Arundel Children's Literary Festival
As part of the Arundel Children's Literary Festival in March, there is the chance to meet three fantastic children's authors at The Arundel Museum on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th March.
The fabulous award-winning illustrator and author Sophy Henn (Bad Nana, Lifesize, and her latest, 'I Hate Everything') will be entertaining and delighting children and adults alike with her unique illustration expertise and Q & A session which starts at 10:15 a.m. Come along and try your hand at drawing one of Sophy's characters!

Opposite the museum in the Pollinator's Garden, Brighton-based author and illustrator Sophie Bresnahan will be telling stories based on her debut children's story 'The Mouse and the Mushroom Blooms'. Follow a little lost mouse (who doesn't know her own magic yet!) and be prepared for an educational and inspirational tale all about the wonder of mushrooms and finding your own place in the world.
Sophie will be reading at 11 o'clock, 12 noon and 1pm.

On Sunday 9th March there is yet another amazing award-winning children's author, Vashti Hardy (Brightstorm Chronicles, Griffin Gate series, Harley Hitch and many more) who will be answering questions and talking about her fantastic books. Among many others, Vashti's book 'Wildspark' won the Blue Peter Book Award 'Best Story' in 2020 and her bestseller 'Brightstorm' was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children's Book Prize. If you enjoy stories and love to write your own, come and ask Vashti for some tips!

There will also be a fun children's book quiz over the weekend which will take you around the town looking for books, questions and clues!

Be Seen Reading Saturday July 19th (afternoon)
Watch out for further details of an afternoon in Arundel when EVERYONE will have a book, magazine, comic, tablet etc. so they will be role models to show children that reading is fun, interesting and something that we can ALL try!
